Judah & the Lion put on an exceptional show full of excitement and joy this past Friday night at Minglewood Hall in Memphis. The unique indie-folk band returned to Memphis, TN for the first time since 2017 earlier this week while on their Happy Again Spring tour. This tour follows their Happy Again Fall tour which took place late last year and the release of their latest album “Revival”.

The evening started with a set by local opener, Massey Lane, a four-piece rock band from Memphis who set the perfect atmosphere in the venue for the band. Judah & the Lion then kicked off their show with high energy by performing “Take A Walk” followed by “Quarter Life Crisis” and undeniably maintained this energy throughout the night. The band also came out wearing green and had encouraged fans via social media to wear green making it the staple color of this tour.

Their performance was full of many feel-good songs that inevitably kept the crowd dancing and singing along through the night. This included both newer and older songs such as “Kickin’ da Leaves” “Alright”  and “Suit and Jacket.” It was clear that Judah & the Lion’s excitement and joy translated effortlessly into the crowd. The band having such a unique sound also performed songs with an emphasis on hip-hop and rock “n” roll making their performance even more exciting.

Keeping their energy the band brought out Massey Lane to perform a cover of “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit which only excited the crowd even more and kept them on their feet. Lead Singer, Judah Akers, also took the time to thank the crowd for coming out and expressed how happy he was to not only be back in Memphis but on tour again following the pandemic. He also took a moment to congratulate a bride in the crowd and thanked her for choosing to spend her bachelorette with the band telling the crowd to make the most of their next song, “dance with ya”, for her.

The band ended their set with fan favorite “Take it All Back 2.0” which sent the crowd to another level as the room filled with the crowd singing along louder than before. Finally Judah & the Lion came back on stage one last time for their two-song encore which included “Landslide” and “Sports” a rather comical rock song about sports which only kept the crowd going and prompted Akers to join fans on the floor.

With many tour dates left on their Happy Again Tour, Judah & the Lion is a band with such unique sound and performance you would not want to miss.
