Pierce the Veil’s “I Can’t Hear You” World Tour landed in Birmingham, Alabama this past weekend as they took the stage at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater for an unforgettable night filled with raw emotion, bittersweet nostalgia, and thunderous crowd energy.

Formed in sunny San Diego, California, in 2006, the band was founded by brothers Vic Fuentes (vocals/guitar) and Mike Fuentes (drums). In 2007, they were joined by Tony Perry (lead guitar) and Jaime Preciado (bass), solidifying the legendary lineup that fans have come to know. Today, only three of the original members remain: Vic, Tony, and Jaime.

With five critically acclaimed studio albums under their belt, Pierce the Veil embarked on their 2025–2026 “I Can’t Hear You” World Tour last summer. This is their largest headlining tour run yet, spanning 71 shows across North America, Europe, and Latin America.

As a huge fan of Pierce the Veil for over a decade, I was ecstatic to attend their Birmingham show at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater. With heavy rain in the forecast, I couldn’t help but wonder if the night would turn into a dramatic downpour performance. When I arrived at the venue, the energy was electric, fans dressed head-to-toe in black, the unofficial uniform of any alternative show, filled the venue. Ponchos and raincoats were everywhere, shielding concertgoers from the rain while adding to the gritty charm of the evening. Many had personalized their outfits with band merch, enamel pins, and other accessories, adding a playful flair into the stormy scene.

The concert kicked off at 6:30 p.m. and featured support from three bands: HEALTH, Ecca Vandal, and Like Roses. HEALTH opened the night with the perfect rock set. Ecca Vandal followed with an electrifying performance that fused punk, hip-hop, and electro-pop, highlighted by fierce vocals. Finally, Like Roses brought a melodic emo edge, warming up the crowd with heartfelt lyrics and gritty guitar work. Together, the openers delivered a dynamic mix of alternative genres and magnetic energy in the rain that set the perfect tone for the night ahead.

At 9:00 p.m., the lights dimmed and the venue roared with explosive excitement as Pierce the Veil stormed on stage. The band launched into “Death of an Executioner,” followed by the fan-favorite “Bulls in the Bronx.” From the first chord, their electrifying energy was undeniable. Lead singer Vic Fuentes commanded the spotlight, igniting the audience into a euphoric frenzy with his magnetic presence and raw vocals.

The show featured stellar production, complete with vibrant lighting and cinematic visuals that complemented each track and era. The dynamic setlist included songs from all five of their albums, blending heavier tracks with slower, emotional ones that moved many fans to tears. Seeing fans have an emotional reaction to certain songs was moving. Between songs, lead singer Vic Fuentes spoke candidly about mental health, love, and the band’s long journey.

As the night continued so did the energy in the venue. Everyone seemed to be having a blast including the band. Their chemistry on stage was immaculate. It was so refreshing seeing a band who has been together for so long have so much fun on stage. Despite the chilly weather and continuous rain, the atmosphere was electric. I took a moment to really admire all the dedicated fans lined up at the barricade all night long and others joining in on intense mosh pits. No one held back. It was beautiful chaos.

The 90-minute set came to a close as the band returned for an encore featuring some of their biggest hits. As the first chords of “Hold On Till May” rang out, the venue filled once more with excitement. That energy reached a new peak as rain began to pour onto the crowd one final time as they closed the night with their anthemic track, “King for a Day.” The timing could not have been more perfect. It was the best way to end the night.

From start to finish, the crowd was locked in a shared experience, screaming, swaying, and singing every word. The “I Can’t Hear You” tour celebrates 20 years of Pierce the Veil’s evolving discography, including five studio albums: A Flair for the Dramatic, Selfish Machines, Collide with the Sky, Misadventures, and The Jaws of Life. Pierce the Veil didn’t just perform, they healed, provoked, and celebrated every chapter of their transformative journey.
