Big Time Rush Brings Back Nostalgia in Southaven

The 4 piece Boy Band that everyone fell in love with in 2010 is hitting the road this summer on their Can’t Get Enough Summer tour.  Big Time Rush consisting of Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega, debuted on Nickelodeon along with the sitcom TV series under the same name in late 2009.

A year ago fans had a chance to see the band while on their Forever Tour following the announcement of their return in late 2022. This year they are back on the road, this time performing new music from their latest album Another Life.

Last Sunday the Band returned to Southaven, Ms for the first time in 10 years. Upon arriving at the venue I could sense the excitement all around me as I saw many fans wearing their favorite Big Time Rush merch and other holding signs for the band members.

As I waited to go inside the venue I was able to meet a lot of fans who shared their excitement with me. Many of them told me how surreal it felt to be moments away from seeing a band they had only ever dreamed of seeing when they were younger. It was amazing to see the community that this band has cultivated over the past decade.

At 9:00 pm Big Time Rush slowly emerged from the stage as the venue filled with screams and excitement. Big Time Rush kicked off their set with a performance of Can’t Get Enough, the first track and single off their latest album.

Their nearly two-hour set was full of nonstop feel-good songs including newer tracks such as “Waves”, “Weekends”, and “Ask You Tonight.” However, a Big Time Rush concert would not be complete without classic songs from their first three studio albums. These songs included “Nothing Even Matters”, “Worldwide”, “City is Ours”, and my personal favorite “Big Night”.

As I saw Big Time Rush perform these songs together I noticed how their chemistry as a band has stayed intact and most importantly how happy and excited they were to be back. It is also worth mentioning how much love the band members have for their fans. Throughout the night individual band members took the time to thank everyone for continuing to support them.

During the performance of “Worldwide”, arguably one of their biggest hits, 4 lucky fans in the crowd joined the boys on stage for a serenade. Fans then got to really take in the nostalgia as video clips of the band, that everyone fell in love with over a decade ago, started to play.

The effort and energy Big Time Rush brought to this tour was also incredible. They had an amazing stage design paired with vibrant visuals. The band members also had various outfit changes throughout the night along with fabulous choreography that charmed the crowd.

The band ended their set with a performance of their self-titled song that skyrocketed them to fame “Big Time Rush.” As the band members left the stage the venue erupted in chants for an encore. Big Time Rush then returned on stage for an unforgettable 3 song encore.  They began their encore with a performance of “Boyfriend” followed by “Windows Down”, a feel-good anthem, in which the band members joined fans in the crowd. To end the night Big Time Rush performed “Till I Forget About You” paired with confetti that showered down at the crowd.

Big Time Rush truly put on an unforgettable performance that I highly recommend experiencing. With many dates left, The Can’t Get Enough Summer Tour is one you don’t want to miss.

Show Date: 06.25.23 | Southaven, MS @ BankPlus Amphitheater | Big Time Rush Brings Back Nostalgia
